They say luck wins the lottery and you literally have to be lucky to experience this place. Vermillion Cliffs National Monument is a protected wilderness area restricted to 10 lottery picked visitors per day. After a long hike on unmarked trails, I saw why this place is so highly guarded. The sweeping lines of sandstone flow in fluid motion creating what spectators call “The Wave”. Bordering red buttes contrast spectacularly against the piercing blue sky. It is one of the most beautiful geologic formations in the world; a pure treasure for the lucky few who get to witness it.
